Our first family WET-venture into Animal Kingdom

So, first off, we went several weeks back in early August. I had started back to school (I think I mentioned I herd cats-I mean teach Kindergarten-for a living) and since it is such a jam packed time, I simply haven't had the time-or energy!- to blog. I am starting to be able to breathe a little again, so it's time to post!

This is how we spent most of the day-WET. It started out fairly nice, but by the time we used our first Fast Pass (Finding Nemo, the Musical) it began the bucketing the Sunshine State is so famous for. And it rained until the park closed that day. In spite of all of this-we had a GREAT visit! We got to meet some characters in between rain storms and my 5 yo discovered a new favorite-Lion King.

When we first walked in, we were greeted by one of the "living plants" (yes, I know, all plants are alive). This character is beautifully detailed down to every last leaf and berry. My 3 yo would not go near her!
Our first Fast Pass was for Finding Nemo, the Musical. My 5 yo, for reasons still unknownt to me, was terrified before the show even started! For the first ten minutes, she hid her eyes, crying. At one point (don't remember now-I think when Dory came out) suddenly everything was all right. It ended up being very enjoyable, the girls both asked to see it again.
And, of course, no flash was used :-)

It was rumored that Adam Sandler was at AK this rainy, rainy day. People were asking me did we see him? Very possibly-he easily could have been one in a sea of raincoats and ponchos. In all honestly, I would not have known if it was him unless he came up to me and quoted Billy Madison or something. So no, no celebrity spotting this day!

We had several character encounters this day also! Thank goodness Daisy Duck came back out when the rain slacked off late afternoon. She was on my oldest girls must see list. Sofia, my 3 yo, had just woken from a nap and refused to get out of the stroller, so Daisy came to her to say hello!

We really enjoyed meeting Mickey and Minnie again! Our visit with them prompted oohs and ahs from the older family behind us. We can't wait to meet Mickey at Magic Kingdom on our next trip!

Evelyn was ecstatic to meet Pocahontas! Sofia was grumpy and almost falling asleep at this point, and did not want to get out of her stroller.

The Disney Cast Members-WOW! Like I said, it was a miserable rainy day. MANY people left the park. We stood under an awning just watching people leave in droves for over half an hour! You would expect tempers to flare, but no. As expected the Cast Members were phenomenal. We went on the Pangani Forest Trail hike. Many animals were out, but we got an unexpected surprise in the hippo viewing area. The cast member in there (please forgive me, after several weeks I have forgotten your name!) sat and talked with my girls for over half an hour! She was amazing! Again, just WOW! What and amazing experience for my little ones!

So after many many wet, chilly (yes chilly!) miserably fun hours, the rain began to slack off. To warm up, we all got some Starbucks. Sofia, my hurricane in a 3 yo body, of course spilled hers on her dress. But otherwise that was a thumbs up!

We spent a significant amount of time entertaining ourselves in on of the shops trying on hats. Had to something to keep from going completely batty!

We ended our day on Kilimanjaro Safaris. My husband and I agreed-it was hands down the best animal viewing we had ever had on this ride! The animals must have been really enjoying the cooling rain! They were everywhere!!!! The baby giraffes were too cute-I think my girls liked them the best!

Until our next visit-my birthday, Magic Kingdom!
