Our attempt at a selfie-see the teeny tiny Cinderella Castle in the background?
My oldest is starting Kindergarten this year. She will be in one of my colleagues classrooms. I am ecstatic, yet saddened by the thought of my baby getting older. She is 5, and therefore is (usually) too big for a stroller.
So last week, she and I ventured to the Magic Kingdom-just the two of us. A Big Girl's Day Out, if you will. This is the first time since before my husband and I were married, I have gone ANYWHERE without a stroller. I managed to snag a fastpass for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, so I figured it was a great day for us to venture stroller-less to MK. Little sister attended daycare that day and had a special daddy-daughter night since she was not tall enough to do most of the rides we did.
This picture is the last time that day until late afternoon we could do without our ponchos (grab some from Dollar Tree to take with you-Florida is tropical, it will rain almost every day at some point and the Disney ones cost $14!). It rained. And rained. And rained. I heard a tourist at one point say "It's pouring out there". Oh poor gentle soul who obviously has not spent much time in the Sunshine State. When it pours in Florida, it rains so hard it rains back up. Thank goodness it was a gentle, but unrelenting, shower.

Mickey's how to fill your magic (aka Mickey's Philharmagic) is a favorite. Evelyn is wet and waiting for this show.

Waiting for the Festival Of Fantasy parade.. Since it was raining, we only lined up a mere 15 minutes before the parade-people will get their spots up to an hour in advance most days.
I can't believe how EASY Disney is without a stroller! I know we won't get away with this on most visits, but WOW! No parking, No running into anyone, No finding the stroller again after the minor heart attack that it might be lost but it turns out a Cast Member had simply moved it... I missed Sofia with us, but NOT the stroller!
I haven't watched a parade in years. My husband (then boyfriend) and I would use this opportunity to get on rides with minimal wait when we had our AP years ago. We found out that this trick doesn't work so well for the hot ticket attractions-Meet Anna and Elsa and Mine Train. I was very impressed! There is nothing like BEING THERE and watching the joy on your lo's face as her favorites *GASP* ANNA and ELSA WAVED AT HER!!! The Maleficent as a dragon float-OMG!!!! It breathes Fire! It is UH-MAY-ZING! I can't wait to see it again!
We tried Haunted Mansion. Um...nope...not again for a while. Some ding dong teenagers who were being, well, teenagers. Were screaming as though they were being murdered and completely set the wrong tone for my 5 year old. At least I got that one last ride for a while-Haunted Mansion is one of my favorites!
Of course, we had to meet a few characters:
Lots of adventure that day-Even a minor (almost not minor) meltdown because I refused to wait 90 minutes to see Anna and Elsa. But that's the way the cookie crumbles with a five year old.

I do not recommend your 5 yo driving-it is HARD! If I had to push that hard on the gas, we would never go anywhere! Great for giggles, though!
